Kan Malaysia is special. We live in a nation made up of a kaleidoscope of cultures, languages, races, and backgrounds. Variety like this can make all our lives a lot more fun, colourful and interesting, but only if we get along with each other. And to do that we have to respect one another and let kindness lead the way.
Treating people with respect and kindness makes “our world” a nicer place to live in, whether it’s at home, at school, or out in our community. And it’s easy – all we have to do is to treat others the way we want them to treat us.
Think about a time when someone did something kind for you. A smile from a stranger, a compliment, a helping hand from a classmate so you could finish your classwork on time. A simple act of kindness is enough to change another person’s day for the better.
Being kind is not rocket science; and bukannya susah. Just remember:
1. Live Kind
A kind word can help brighten someone’s day. Even if they’re a stranger, show that you care by trying to include them. Talk to them at school or sit with them during recess.
2. Treat ALL with Respect
Being mean to others will not get us far in life. Instead, keep in mind that everyone is different. Not better or worse. Just different. Show respect and kindness the same way you expect kindness and respect in return.

3. Don’t Stereotype
Prejudice and racist attitudes only makes us an ugly person, inside and out. Better to show interest and appreciation for other people’s cultures and backgrounds. Celebrate the diversity and goodness in everyone.
4. Don’t Insult Others
Just because some people are different, doesn’t give us the right to tease or insult them. Stop and think how you would feel if someone said nasty things to you about the way you look, dress, behave or where you come from.

5. Value other People’s Opinions
Listen to others when they speak. You may learn something new; or even that you share common interests.
