Words have power. They can inspire, challenge, and spark change. That’s why UNICEF Malaysia is inviting 10 young people to join our Children4Change Youth Blogging Workshop in Butterworth, Penang – a free space to learn, write, and make your voice heard.
From Malala Yousafzai’s early blogs to Greta Thunberg’s climate posts, young people have shown how storytelling can change the world. This is your chance to do the same.
What you’ll gain from the workshop
Whether you’re new to blogging or already writing, this workshop will help you grow as a changemaker. You’ll get to:
- Learn how blogs can drive real change for children and youth.
- Discover how to shape stories that inspire people to act.
- Be part of a community of passionate young writers from across Malaysia.

A two-day, hands-on workshop to craft powerful blogs and compelling stories.

4 October 2025 | Butterworth, Penang
A one-day crash course on visual storytelling basics.
📍 Online Writing Clinic*
5 October 2025 | Online
A half-day live session with feedback to sharpen your writing.
📍 1-on-1 Coaching Sessions*
Session #1: 26-28 September 2025 | Online
Session #2: 9-11 October 2025 | Online
Two personal coaching sessions (1.5 hours each) to refine your ideas and style.
You’ll be asked to choose your preferred time slots for both sessions during the dates above.
Note: This is a non-residential workshop. Transport and daily travel arrangements will need to be managed by participants.

Who can apply?
We’re looking for 10 motivated young people who:
- Are between 13–24 years old and based in Penang/Georgetown.
- Love writing and want to use their voice for good.
- Care about issues that matter to them and their peers.
- Can write in English, Malay, or Manglish (it’s okay if English isn’t your first language).
- Have access to a smartphone or device for writing, photos or videos.
- Can commit to all the dates above.
💡 Special consideration will be given to marginalized youth, including refugee youth.
How to apply
Write a short 200-word blog-style essay on a topic that matters to you and your generation. Tell us why it’s important and what needs to change.
Only 10 participants will be selected – so bring your best! Apply by 31 August 2025.
