Please make sure you read the terms and conditions below carefully before you enter this photo contest:

Eligibility

  • If you are aged between 13 to 24 on the closing date, 22 October 2023 and living in Malaysia, this contest is for you.

Submission period

  • 17 July – 22 October 2023

How to enter

  • Entry is free. No product purchase or participation/entry fee is necessary to take part in this photo contest.
  • Please refer to “How to Join” for the steps to join the contest.
  • If you are below 18 years old, you must obtain permission from your parent or legal guardian to participate in the photo contest.
  • If your Instagram account is private or you don’t have an Instagram account, you can email your entry to us at mediakl@unicef.org
  • You can submit as many entries as you wish. Make sure each entry is your own original work.

Content Requirements

  • Photos must be digital originals. Make sure you have taken the photo you plan to submit. Entering someone else’s photo is not allowed and you will be disqualified.
  • Photos must be taken in Malaysia. This contest will only accept original photos taken from 1 January 2021 onwards.
  • Photos that are not related to any of the themes or without a caption will be disqualified.
  • You affirm that you have obtained oral or written consent from all individuals whose image or likeness appears in the photograph.
  • Submissions that contain obscenity, explicit sexual material, nudity, profanity, graphic violence, calls or incitement to violence, commercial solicitation or commercial promotion will be disqualified.

Photo Requirements

  • Upload the biggest file you have of your photo, but no bigger than 5MB and no smaller than 2MB. The digital file format must be in .JPG (JPEG) that is at least 3,000 pixels wide (if a horizontal image) or 2,000 pixels tall (if a vertical image).
  • Basic editing such as colour enhancement and cropping is acceptable, provided any such editing does not affect the authenticity of the photos. Manipulation to create illusions and deceptions, and addition and deletion of elements is prohibited.
  • Photos that have been entered into other competitions will be rejected.

Copyright

  • You hold the copyright of all photos you submit for this photo contest.
  • By entering this contest, you will grant UNICEF with a worldwide, irrevocable and perpetual license to feature your submitted photos in any of our digital and printed publications aimed at advancing and promoting the rights of children; as well as in any promotional, communication and publicity material connected to this photo contest. UNICEF will credit the photo to your name whenever we use it.
  • Please ensure you protect the privacy of children who may be at risk of harm if their identity is revealed.

Privacy

  • If you are below 18 years old, please speak with your parent or guardian for their permission to participate in this contest, and BEFORE giving your personal information to UNICEF. This is required by the law.
  • If you are not sure you understand something in this section, you should ask your parent or guardian for their help.
  • By entering this contest, your parent or legal guardian agrees that, only for the pur pose of promoting this photo contest, UNICEF may use your name and age; and dis close this to third parties. UNICEF will seek your parent or legal guardian’s prior con sent before disclosing any further personal data to third parties (media, exhibition curator).
  • Because you are below 18, the law requires us to obtain your parent or guardian’s consent for you to participate in this contest. Any information shared by your parent or guardian is for the specific purpose of this contest; and will not be shared with a third party.
